This page summarizes activities in the Archives in 2011-2015. After that date, the Deseronto Archives collections were transferred to the Community Archives of Belleville and Hastings County and are included in the statistics for that repository.
Archives usage and activities in 2015
A key achievement this year has been the completion of the Quinte Scanner obituary project. Archives volunteer Dyan Bonter has transcribed nearly 500 obituaries from the newspaper between the years 1968 and 1982.

Archives usage and activities in 2014
A highlight of 2014 was the shortlisting of the ‘Land that Supports our Feet’ Symposium for the Governor General’s History Awards for Excellence in Community Programming.
The Archives was also pleased to partner with Deseronto Public Library in hosting the launch of Frances Itani’s new book, Tell, in August. Tell is set in Deseronto in 1919 and uses a range of materials from the Archives to augment the story.

These included: Cole family materials found in the wall of a house in Mill Street; research materials relating to match factories in Deseronto and photographs of the former Colp Block on the corner of St. George and Edmon Streets in Deseronto.

These included photographs of the local Royal Flying Corps camps taken during the First World War; photographs of St. Mark’s Church; an audio recording of the Duncan brothers talking about their experiences of life in Deseronto as new immigrants in 1907; letters written to Reuben Cronk, Chief of Police, in 1881-1882; and some items which belonged to Cecil Argue, Mayor of Deseronto in 1929.
